Who was Molly B'Damm
The year was 1884 and the railroad advertised tickets from St. Paul MN. to Belknap Montana. Molly B'Damm also Know as Molly Burdan traveled by train with Wyatt Earp and Clamity Jane to the new frontier. After arriving in Thomson Falls the three took the densely forested mountain trails to the fabled gold fields of Idaho. Arriving in Eagle City the three found themselves with many opportunity. Wyatt and his brothers opened the White Elephant Saloon. Clamity knowing she could not compete with Molly's beauty decided to open her business 20 miles away in the new city of Wallace, after traveling 12 hours she found herself a cooking for the hungry minors, thus figuring out it was true that the way to a mans heart is through his stomach, therefore: she abandoned her original plans. Molly Stayed in Murry as a "Lady of the evening" she announced she would be living in #1 cabin on Gold Street. She was scorned by many of the towns folks But Molly kept living and working, always treating her customers fairly, grub staking the needy, and making certain that none of her girls robbed their customers.
Molly, born in Dublin, Ireland was the daughter of strict parents. She was a true Irish girl, quick witted with attractive strawberry blonde hair. She was well educated, able to quote Shakespeare, bobby burns, and the bible with ease and understanding.
All was going well for Molly until illness struck the town of Murry. Some say it was small pox. Others say it was typhoid. The men and women of Murry were dying.
Molly organized the town folks, telling them to bring all the sick to the hotels where they would be tended to. Molly was warned she might become sick, however she continued caring for the afflicted and requesting volunteers to help. Molly never wavered. She stayed by the bedsides of the suffering, never swaying in her care of the less fortune.,
Illness eventually took Molly on January 17, 1888. She was only 35 years old. Molly was buried by three Protestant Ministers who lived in Murry, Thousands attended her funeral, walking up the gentle slopes of the cemetery to lay Molly B'Damm to rest.
